About Retail Loss Prevention and Electronic Article Surveillance
Loss prevention is the process of taking actions to reduce the potential loss from theft within a business. At its core, retail loss prevention is something put in place to increase the profitability of a business. Electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems have been found to be one of the most efficient methods of promoting retail loss prevention, and is commonly used for tackling the problem of shoplifting within reatail venues. Electronic article surveilance systems are beneficial for a number of reasons. The first of which being that they directly reduce monetary losses due to shoplifting by identifying thieves as they attempt to leave the store. They also provide a deterrent effect by simply being visible to the public. Finally, electronic article surveillance allows stores to move valuable items from locked cases to the store floor, where they are easily visible, thus promoting impulse sales.
How Retail Loss Prevention Electronic Article Surveillance Systems Works
EAS systems work by attaching special tags to the merchandise wanting to be protected. Many times these tags are hidden, or even built into the clothing, making it harder for potential thieves to try and take off. Once an item is bought, the tag can be properly removed with a detacher by personel with the authority to do so. If someone attempts to steal merchandise with these tags attached, an alarm will sound as merchandise crosses electronic sensors placed at the doorway.

Promax EAS System Line

This is a complete line of retail loss prevention systems which are designed and proven to deter theft at most double doorway and other wide aisle exits. Coverage protection using two pedestals is approximately 6-8 feet using a patented technology. These pedestals should not be placed more than 8 feet apart, however two-pedestals will protect and cover up to 16 feet depending on the tag used. On average you will get (6-8) feet of center aisle coverage between the two-pedestals and up to four (4) feet coverage on exterior side of each pedestal (for a total of approximately 14-16 feet) making this retail loss prevention line ideal for most wide-aisle, high traffic retail exits.
DC-4600 Loss Prevention System
Model Number: TG-103
The DC-4600 system functions in nearly the same way as the standard RF systems, but at a wider aisle width and requires only one antenna to operate. This loss prevention system can detect tags within 5 feet (152.4cm) on either side of a single panel and if two panels are used, an opening as wide as 20 feet (6.09m) can be protected. Another advantage of the single panel system is that the electronics do not have to be synchronized, which minimizes installation time and after sales service.
